Saint Ann School of Wilmington, Delaware, was founded in 1899 under the direction of Bishop John J. Monaghan.  Since that time, Saint Ann School has been dedicated to supporting, developing, and encouraging the positive learning that takes place in the home.  We strive to create a learning environment in which all students experience a Christian community and to help our students understand what it means to be members of the larger Christian community, the Church.  To foster the spiritual development of our children, students participate in morning and afternoon prayers daily; we celebrate monthly Liturgies and celebrate Reconciliation during the seasons of Advent and Lent.  Students also have the opportunity to prepare and share the Liturgy with nearby residents of the Kentmere Nursing Home on a monthly basis.

The faculty and staff are committed to the development of each child spiritually, as well as academically, physically, emotionally, and socially.  We believe that it is imperative that Christian values be taught and modeled through the curriculum.  We recognize the individuality of all our students and encourage each child to develop and work to their potential.  Our curriculum provides each student with instruction in the core areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, as well as weekly classes in Music, Art, Computer, Physical Education, and Spanish.  We have a modern library, which is utilized for research as well as weekly classes.  A variety of teaching methods is employed by our faculty to insure that each child in our care has the opportunity to succeed.  This includes the use of manipulatives and technology, and an emphasis on developing critical thinking skills and problem solving strategies at all grade levels.

Our students also have the opportunity to participate in CYM (Catholic Youth Ministry) sports, scouting programs, Declamation and Forensic speech contests, Math and Science Olympiad, It’s Academic tournaments, State of Delaware Geographic Bee, State Spelling Bee,  Math League competitions, and self produced live television news casts via closed circuit television.  These extracurricular activities help to stimulate and challenge students beyond the classroom setting and to interact with students from other schools.  Saint Ann School students go on to area high schools well prepared for the next phase of their education.

MISSION STATEMENT
